Check the state of your air filter, a dirty filter harms performance and economy. To see if you need a new filter take it out and hold it up to the sun, if you cannot see light coming through it then you need a new one. If you do need to replace your air filter it may be worth considering a “permanent” filter. These can simply be cleaned and put back in and are also environmentally sounder thereby potentially saving you more money in the long run.
If your car is parked outside in the sun, this can cause the emissions to evaporate from your car. Another thing that results from parking out in the sun is that when you get in the car, you are more than likely to turn the air condition very high and this eats up the gas. So the nest time you park, also try to look for a shade or a tree to park under if there is currently no garage available to park in.

A recent example would be the presence of the paparazzi in front of the school where Tiger Woods’ daughter studies. Guy Caruso, head of the Energy Department’s statistical agency, said prices at the pump, which averaged $2.68 a gallon last week nationwide, are likely to increase 10 to 15 cents a gallon in the coming weeks, peak in May and drop off in late summer. He said the national average can mask local price spikes.
