The Department of Transportation(s) (DOT) city, county, state and federal, are dependent on fuel taxes for a large percentage of their operating revenue. The DOT packs a lot of clout with auto manufacturers. If cars get a ten to fifty percent higher MPG, the revenues would decrease by that same percentage, unless the tax on a gallon of fuel increases. Fuel taxes already account for a large part of the price of fuel. Would the public stand for even higher fuel taxes? Time will tell if that will be the case because, with the losses that American auto manufacturers are suffering due to their entrenched and out of date mindsets, they will have to begin manufacturing smaller cars that get better gas mileage.
However, this is not an easy job to some. Most of them do not unbolt the exhaust and they have to cut it using a saw or a cutting torch. It could be a bit difficult but with these simple steps, you will be able to do this simple task.
One of the most confusing seems to be the term cat-back system. It is actually a very straight forward idea, but the name may not be understood. As part of the exhaust system in most cars in America is a special device called a catalytic converter price guide.
